From the beginning, Apex PROaupair’s mission has been to recruit au pair with professional backgrounds so that families can count on extremely high caliber care for their children. Apex PROaupair is the only au pair agency in the U.S. that focuses on sourcing professional au pairs.
What Makes an Au Pair “Professional?”
In order to qualify as a professional, the au pair candidate must have a degree or professional experience in a childcare-related field, or at least one year of full-time experience. The majority of our professional au pairs hold one of the following degrees:
- Occupational Therapy
- Physical Therapy
- Early Childhood Education/Teaching
- Pediatric Nursing
- Special Needs Education
- Special Needs Caregiving
During the au pair vetting process, the candidate completes an extensive application and provides documentation concerning his or her background and credentials. This information is available to families during the matching process.
Where do professional au pairs come from?
Apex PROaupair maintains offices in Germany and sources professional au pairs directly through its vast network of European universities, vocational training schools, hospitals and referrals from organizations such as the German Red Cross. Apex PROaupair's admissions team carefully screens candidates to ensure they are qualified to work as professional au pairs. The majority of professional au pairs are German; however Apex PROaupair also offers candidates from Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Hungary, Mexico, Ecuador and China.
What motivates professional to come to the U.S.?
Professional au pairs participating in Apex PROaupair’s programs have a keen interest in developing their careers and broadening their cultural horizons by working with children and living for a year or two in the United States. Improving their English, living with an American family and gaining experience for their future careers motivates them to participate in the Apex PROaupair program.
